Important information about Trade Mission Vouchers
Trade Mission Vouchers
The Dutch Government has introduced a voucher system for participation in trade missions, a so-called 'Trade Mission Voucher'. This Trade Mission Voucher can be used by SME's to cover (part of their) participation fee for trade missions. The Trade Mission Voucher has a max. valueof EUR 1500,- (ex. VAT).
Some of the conditions that apply to the mission voucher include:
Company must be an SME (as defined by the Dutch Government),
The destination country must be a relatively new market for the company,
The trade mission or trade fair must be mentioned on www.internationaalondernemen.nl.
Most of NABC's (regular) trade missions are published on internationaalondernemen.nl and hence, the Trade Mission Voucher can be used for these missions.
From 1 October 2016, the Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO), has created new subsidy rules for “Voucher Internationaal Ondernemen” (International Entrepreneur Vouchers), effecting the dispersal of mission vouchers. The conditions qualifying a person for a voucher have been amended and tightened, and the conditions for the ‘collective activities’ for which a voucher can be requested have been as well.
The following change may affect those participating in NABC trade missions:
Only trade missions with a matchmaking element will be eligible for a voucher. Fact finding missions that are carried out for the purposes of collective business visits will not be eligible for a mission voucher.
Beginning 1 October 2017, the voucher will be valued at 50% of participant costs as calculated by the organiser, at a maximum of 1,500 euro excluding travel, lodging and value-added tax (btw).
Conditions for SMEs (MKBs):
The maximum export revenue of the business is 25% or
The business hasn’t been registered for longer than three years at the Chamber of Commerce.

This trade mission can be combined with the Avi Africa in South Africa organised by the SAPA (for the livestock participants).
Location: Harare, Zimbabwe
Track 3: Smart Cities/Smart Mobility
Cities all around the world struggle with questions on how to deal with Smart Cities, how do we need to change the policy, how to (re-)develop cities, et cetera. Also Harare has to deal with these dilemma’s and is in desperate need of innovation. But there is also a big chance for innovative entrepreneurs.
In the heart of the South African continent, Zimbabwe has a strong starting position to become a leading country in this development of whole South-Africa. The high density of smartphones can support travel pattern research but also gives the possibility to implement 'Smart City and Mobility' as a 'service concept'. There is a low depreciation of infrastructure and a growing demand for human and freight transport in Zimbabwe and the countries around Zimbabwe. Additionally, there are good possibilities for solar and hydro energy and no boundaries on old-fashioned policy, regulations and systems. New and innovative thinking will be needed to create integral energy, urban and infrastructure development.
Trade mission participation fee for all tracks: € 1250,- (excl. VAT) for NABC and SANEC members and € 1500,- (excl. VAT) for non-NABC members
(You can make use of a missionvoucher and retrieve half of the mission fee if your application fits the voucher requirements.)

"Last December I participated in a trade mission to Cameroon, organized by The Netherlands African Business Council. This was not my first trade mission but this was definitely the one best organized!
In one week time we visited Yaoundé (capital city with government institutions), Douala (main economical center) and Kribi (deep see port with a new container terminal). During this trip we enjoyed a good balance between visits to government institutions, presentations from local stakeholders, visits to companies, two networking receptions and several Business to Business sessions. There was also time to leave the group and to visit some own (potential) clients. All together a very effective 1 week trade mission, resulting finally in several good business leads.
I like to thank the two ladies who headed this mission, Marina Diboma and Quirine de Graaf, for their very professional approach and good organisation skills." Guus van Bilsen, director/owner LIBITCO BV
