  • In close collaboration with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Dutch Embassy in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the NABC is organising an engaging afternoon seminar on the 1st of July from 13:30-18:00 PM CEST at the Mercure Hotel Amersfoort Centre. The seminar is aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation between the Netherlands and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in the poultry sector

This seminar is part of the upcoming poultry-focused trade mission from DRC. This seminar offers a unique platform for Dutch companies, knowledge institutions, and sector stakeholders to connect with Congolese counterparts, exchange expertise, and explore business opportunities.

    Key programme highlights include:

    • An introduction and outline of the current trade and aid agenda in the DRC by the Dutch Government (Dutch Embassy, RVO, Min. of Foreign Affairs, LVVN).
    • Insights about recent studies on poultry production, feed, and maize in the DRC by Wageningen University & Research.
    • Presentations from Dutch private sector initiatives (e.g. Atradius, Impact Clusters).
    • Two parallel breakout sessions:
      • Innovations in poultry production
      • Feed and local sourcing opportunities
    • A networking reception to close the day, offering a chance to meet the Congolese delegation and connect with fellow Dutch stakeholder.
  • This seminar is organised as part of the Incoming Poultry Trade Mission from the Democratic Republic of Congo to the Netherlands taking place from the 29 of June and the 5th of July.

In close collaboration with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Dutch Embassy in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the NABC is organising a poultry-focused trade mission for a delegation of 15 Congolese professionals. This visit is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen trade relations between the DRC and the Netherlands and accelerate the development of Congo’s poultry sector through knowledge exchange, partnerships, and innovation.

With over 100 million inhabitants, the DRC is one of Africa’s largest countries and holds significant agricultural potential. However, domestic poultry production remains limited, largely due to outdated equipment, capital constraints, and a reliance on expensive imports of frozen chicken and eggs. Urban demand continues to rise, and local supply cannot keep pace, leading to high consumer prices and increased food insecurity.

This mission aims to connect Congolese stakeholders with leading Dutch companies, technology providers, and research institutions. During the week-long programme in Amersfoort, participants will engage in site visits, matchmaking sessions, and interactive workshops focused on strengthening local poultry production, improving feed systems, and enhancing value chain efficiency.

By sharing Dutch expertise and exploring commercial collaboration, this mission seeks to improve food self-sufficiency in the DRC, reduce reliance on imports, and unlock economic opportunities for both Congolese and Dutch businesses. Ultimately, this mission supports long-term sectoral growth, job creation, and sustainable agriculture in the DRC.
