On May 17th, France will host a major Sudan conference in Paris, chaired by President Macron, Sudanese Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok and Chairman of the Sovereign Council General Burhan. The focus of the conference is on the rehabilitation of Sudan on an international level due to the end of the inclusion of Sudan on the US State Sponsored Terrorism list, and the return of WBG activities in Sudan.
In addition to this, the conference will also touch upon the normalization of banking transactions with Sudan. The governor of the Sudanese Central Bank is expected to comment on the new banking law passed this month that will officially give Sudan a dual financial system and which will help towards the normalization of transfers and contacts with correspondent banks.
A business forum will be organized on the morning of May 17th for Dutch Companies interested in Sudan. The four round tables will focus on 1) Agriculture, agribusiness and animal husbandry, 2) Infrastructure, 3) Energy and mining and 4) ICT.
