  • Programme
  • In close collaboration with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and the Dutch Embassy in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the NABC is organising a poultry-focused trade mission for a delegation of 15 Congolese professionals. This visit is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen trade relations between the DRC and the Netherlands and accelerate the development of Congo’s poultry sector through knowledge exchange, partnerships, and innovation.

With over 100 million inhabitants, the DRC is one of Africa’s largest countries and holds significant agricultural potential. However, domestic poultry production remains limited, largely due to outdated equipment, capital constraints, and a reliance on expensive imports of frozen chicken and eggs. Urban demand continues to rise, and local supply cannot keep pace, leading to high consumer prices and increased food insecurity.

This mission aims to connect Congolese stakeholders with leading Dutch companies, technology providers, and research institutions. During the week-long programme in Amersfoort, participants will engage in site visits, matchmaking sessions, and interactive workshops focused on strengthening local poultry production, improving feed systems, and enhancing value chain efficiency.

By sharing Dutch expertise and exploring commercial collaboration, this mission seeks to improve food self-sufficiency in the DRC, reduce reliance on imports, and unlock economic opportunities for both Congolese and Dutch businesses. Ultimately, this mission supports long-term sectoral growth, job creation, and sustainable agriculture in the DRC.
