If you’ve attended an NABC event or engaged with its online presence, there’s a high chance Guna has been the driving force behind it. Since joining the NABC team in September 2018 as a Marketing and Communications Assistant, Guna has grown into the role of Events and Marketing Coordinator. She oversees the management of flagship events such as the New Year’s Reception, Ambassadors’ Dinner, and Africa Works! conference, as well as trade and investment forums co-organised with African embassies and trade agencies.
Guna has played a pivotal role in delivering impactful events that bridge Dutch and African businesses, fostering connections and actionable insights to promote sustainable investment. Notable highlights include the Zambia-Netherlands Trade and Investment Forum 2024, Tanzania-Netherlands Trade and Investment Forum 2023, and the GrowCongo! Invest in Agriculture Forum 2020, which collectively facilitated dialogue across key sectors like agriculture, renewable energy, and infrastructure while driving significant investment commitments. Some of the clients Guna has collaborated with include, but are not limited to, the World Bank Group, the African Development Bank, and the European Union.
Beyond her expertise in events, Guna is deeply committed to equitable trade and investment, guided by her dedication to SDG17: Partnerships for the Goals. She firmly believes that honest business begins with a fair and inclusive approach. Her dedication extends to improving access to finance for African entrepreneurs, particularly women, reflecting her passion for driving societal and economic change.
Complementing her professional journey, Guna holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Public Management and has completed a Master’s module in Network Governance and Local Solutions. Additionally, she is certified in Investment Management from Geneva University and has completed IFC’s Sustainability Training and E-Learning Programme (STEP).
Guna’s creativity and love for storytelling shine through her marketing expertise. A former award-winning still-life photographer, she has transformed NABC’s online presence, tripling monthly website and LinkedIn visitors and solidifying NABC’s reputation as a leader in promoting sustainable trade and investment between the Netherlands and Africa.
Born in Latvia, raised in the UK, and educated in the Netherlands, Guna brings an international perspective to her work. Her motto, “Be a pebble in the positive societal and economic change,” reflects her unwavering dedication to making a meaningful impact.
