Angelica Ortiz de Haas

Ms. Ortiz de Haas has 28 years of experience in the financial sector. She started her career in 1994 in Latin America in the banking and stock brokerage business, with the BBVA Group.
In 2002, Angelica joined FMO where she worked on project and structured finance transactions in Asia for several years. Since 2008 Angelica has been part of the FMO management team. She has held different positions in operations, strategy, and business development. In the area of operations, she set up FMO’s Back and Mid-office in the trajectory to obtaining FMO’s banking license. Within the strategy, she headed the Sustainability team at FMO, implementing Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance activities in the business. In this role, she also contributed to issuing FMO’s first green bond, also the 1st green bond in The Netherlands. Within her Business Development roles, she headed the ECA / MENA team where she expanded activities into the Middle East for the financial sector as well as co-founded FMO’s Nasira program. Nasira is FMO’s risk-sharing program that focuses on vulnerable segments of the population. As of mid-2021, she heads the FI Africa team.
In addition to FMO, Angelica has held several board seats since 2009. Amongst others, these include her role as Chairman and Member of the Board of Confoco, S.A, the largest banana flake producer in Ecuador. Board Member at True Price, a foundation that assists organizations to quantify, value and improve their impact on society.
Angelica received her MBA at Erasmus University from the Rotterdam School of Management in The Netherlands.
Angelica lives with her husband and their two sons in the Hague region.
