Young Africa International (YAI) was founded in the Netherlands in 1998 and operates in 5 countries as a confederation of independently and locally registered affiliated organizations. Each Affiliate operates TVET-Centre(s), youth (self-) employment programs, and community activities in a total of 9 Technical and Vocational Training and Education (TVET) Centres and 19 PoP-up Centers. Through partner organizations, YAI replicates the YA Model in 3 additional countries. Young Africa’s core business is thus essential skills training for employability and entrepreneurship. Young Africa delivers its skills training through an innovative franchise business model(UNESCO-UNEVOC endorsed one of the best practice training models in 2023). The sustainable integral approach addresses the multidimensional nature of development needs (i.e., economic, social, and emotional) of young people in a highly synchronized way. Young people receive on-the-job vocational training(70% practical, 30% theory), Life Skills education, entrepreneurship training, ICT and English lessons, and post-graduation support as part of its innovative high-impact solution to youth employment. Operating in 5 countries with Young Africa International through its YA Affiliate members has already successfully graduated more than 50.000 Youths from TVET courses and empowered over 300,000 through various services and activities.
