Van den Herik is a family business of hydraulic engineers originated in 1946. The company has now grown into a multi-disciplinary enterprise with over 200 employees, that is strong in both hydraulic engineering projects and the detection of conventional ordnance. Van den Herik is versatile, sustainable ánd innovative. Working with water is our passion, and it’s our daily inspiration for finding infrastructure solutions. Sustainability and safety are the mainsprings of all we do as we’re building for the future. A future that promotes liveability, access and safety for our community.

With our seagoing fleet (Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers, Backhoe Dredgers, self-propelled Grab Dredger, Pontoons, self-propelled Hopper Barges) we have a unique position in the market. Our vessels are, like our company, big enough to make impact, and small enough to be maneuverable and flexible. We are specialized in offshore and nearshore works like dredging and suppletion.

As a participant of the WACA Program (The West Africa Coastal Areas Management Program) we developed an innovative and nature-based solution in order to enhance the resiliance of all coastal communities in West Africa, at present being affected by climate change, sea level rise, coastal erosian and floading, for decades to come. Together with Nautilus Coastal Solutions we came up with the 'Coastal Retrofit 2.0 Barrier Reef'. A man-made Barrier Reef, build with prefabricated reef-elements, coupled gabions, strengthened with seasand on the coastside and (armour)rocks on the seaside, planted with Mangrove trees.
