AfricInvest

AfricInvest is one of the most prominent first-movers in Africa in the PE/VC space. The Group AfricInvest was founded in 1994 and is now one of the leading Pan-African Private Equity, Venture Capital and private debt institution in the continent, operating out of nine offices in Africa and Europe, including Mauritius. It was set up to provide capital to robust companies with businesses that can be expanded beyond national borders in the African continent and beyond. Africinvest has since the start been supported by FMO and prominent International Financial institutions including IFC, AfDB Norfund, BIO, and the European Investment Bank. AfricInvest raised over 20 investment funds (many of them incorporated in Mauritius and the last one in the Netherlands) with a total value of USD 2.0 billion and has invested in over 180 African private sector companies in around 30 Africa countries. Over 100 companies have exited through sales to other PE Funds or other private institutions. Apart from attractive returns, AfricInvest realized positive social, economic and environmental impact. With regard to creating impact and supporting sustainable development goals, SDGs, the AfricInvest Group is fully aware of its responsible investing. AfricInvest\'s responsible investment department, actively shapes the development of the AfricInvest Group\'s responsible investment strategy. A team of responsible investors works with the investment and management teams to assess and monitor the ESG and development impact performance of portfolio companies, and to implement best international practices. With a strong financial background and in-depth knowledge of the African continent AfricInvest is building sustainable businesses and increases value in emerging markets.
