The South African General Elections held on the 29th of May 2024, marked a significant shift in the country’s political landscape as the African National Congress (ANC) lost its parliamentary majority after 30 years of dominance. South Africa is now poised for a coalition government, and there is an urgent need for coalition negotiations to advance and reduce uncertainty.

Among the various coalition possibilities, the ANC might align with MK and the far-left Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), a partnership that could unsettle investors due to their commitments to nationalise key sectors of South Africa’s economy, including its globally significant gold and platinum mines. Join us on the 25th of June from 08:30 to 11:00 AM at Malietoren in The Hague for the second in-person Africa Expert Breakfast session, organised by the NABC and Standard Chartered Bank, and hosted by VNO-NCW. We will analyse the election outcomes and explore the potential impacts of the coalition government on South Africa’s political and economic policies going forward. The session’s expert will be Ms. Razia Khan, Head of Research for Africa and the Middle East at Standard Chartered Bank, and the recent recipient of the Banker Icon Award at the African Banker Awards 2024.

Kindly be informed that registration does not guarantee automatic admission.
