From 10-13 September, NABC, in close cooperation with the Dutch embassy in Dakar, Senegal and the Royal Netherlands Navy, organized the very first multi-sectorial trade mission to Senegal. It was one of NABC’s biggest trade missions yet, with 25 participating companies from a variety of sectors (construction, maritime, agriculture, cooling, energy, ICT, mining, food & beverages). We are extremely happy to announce that this first mission was a great success!
The companies had a varied program with both collective and individual components. The first day of the program, September 11, started at the beautiful residence of the Dutch Ambassador to Senegal, H.E. mr. P.J. Kleiweg de Zwaan. Here the Dutch companies were welcomed by the Ambassador and Mr. Bob van der Bijl, managing director of NABC. Hereafter, two Dutch companies already active in Senegal shared their experiences with our delegation, Senegalese entrepreneurs and public officials.
The delegation split up for the second half of the day. While the maritime companies had their own visits on-location, the other companies had 1-on-1 meetings with potential business partners. The B2B sessions proved to be extremely fruitful as companies scheduled follow-up meetings for the upcoming days.
The first day ended with a beautiful reception at the HNLMS Rotterdam, which was an excellent networking occasion for our Dutch delegation with over 150 guests from the Senegalese and international public and private sector.
The remaining two days were filled with company visits (per sector), individual appointments and follow-ups and another networking-trade dinner at the Residence of the Dutch Ambassador and an audience with H.E. Aminata Toure, Prime Minister of Senegal. The mission was closed with a much-appreciated reception at the Residence of the Ambassador, where we briefly evaluated with our delegation. The conclusion? A great success!
We are very proud to know that different delegation members managed to close business deals on the second and third day of the mission! This really proves that trade missions can be extremely useful and effective tools, not only to explore your business opportunities on the African continent, but also to DO business.
NABC wishes to thank the Dutch embassy in Dakar, the Royal Netherlands Navy, the participating companies and all other parties involved for their greatly appreciated efforts in making this mission a real success.
