Practical information

Several economic sectors in Europe are struggling to find adequate skills to fill labour shortages. Despite the ongoing efforts aimed at activating the pool of unemployed, finding additional skilled labour remains a big challenge. The MATCH project (Migration of African Talents through Capacity building and Hiring) aims at enabling Nigerian and Senegalese talent to work for a period of 1-2 years in companies in the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, or Luxembourg where specific sectorial labour shortages have been identified - primarily the ICT, technology and digitalisation sectors.

Young candidates from Nigeria & Senegal will be targeted and invited for a temporary job placement, following profile screening and matching with said companies, to upscale their skills and increase their employability upon return to their home countries. In addition to the mobility scheme, MATCH will implement complementary activities such as skills development, capacity building and knowledge sharing. The selected canidates will be invited to attend trainings organised by the individual companies, Employer Organisations or Employment Agencies. The candidate will also be invited to engage in projects in their home country to share their knowledge and skills.

How can your company benefit from the MATCH project?

  • Send us your vacancies for highly qualified technical profiles. Based on the vacancies received from interested Dutch companies, a recruitment process will be launched in Senegal and Nigeria. Interested candidates will be pre-screened by a selection panel composed of local national employment agencies and IOM offices.
  • We will provide guidance in the selection process and will ensure that the highest recruitment standards are met (including technical skills and knowledge of English/French). The selection panel will then provide your company with the top-5 best candidates. You will then be able to finalise the recruitment process (without the obligation to recruit) by meeting the candidates, conducting (Skype) interviews or have them take tests.
  • IOM will support the administrative and logistical preparation, as well as preparing the candidates before their departure to the Netherlands.
  • Intercultural awareness sessions will be organised for Dutch companies and Nigerian /Senegalese candidates to support the smooth transition into a welcoming workplace for employers and employees alike.

COVID-19 PANDEMIC

The implementation of the MATCH project will fully comply with each country’s domestic regulations concerning the COVID-19 pandemic. The volume of recruitments foreseen in the project will be adjusted to the actual needs of companies that will still be experiencing shortages in the post-pandemic context. Additionally, there will be no physical recruitments of young talents while mobility restrictions linked to COVID-19 pandemic still apply. Furthermore, depending on needs of the companies, distance working arrangements will be set up in order to already build a collaborative foundation that benefits both sides.
