Dutch and Mozambican Counterparts Exchange Knowhow in Gas Industry

Published on: 08-Dec-2015

On 8  December 2015, a Master Class on the Energy Value Chain takes place in Hotel Polana in Maputo. Mozambican decision-makers from public and private sector in the petroleum and gas industry participate in the event organized by the Dutch Round Table Oil & Gas East Africa in collaboration with the Netherlands Embassy in Maputo.

The Dutch Round Table Oil & Gas East Africa is an initiative of 10 Dutch multinational companies facilitated by the Netherlands African Business Council (NABC). The initiative aims to position the quality and diversity of the Dutch Oil&Gas sector and to support an inclusive development of the sector in Mozambique and Tanzania.

The Master Class explores specifically the Gas Value Chain, and provides specific insights in key topics, such as, a strong and qualified local workforce, operational safety and the environment. The event aims at sharing experiences and aims to contribute towards a successful and inclusive development of the Mozambican gas industry.

The program consists of technical presentations by the participating Dutch companies. In the afternoon the participants will also work actively on specific case studies, enabling to put in practice new know-how.

On Wednesday 9 December, two open classes will take place at the Nautical Institute and at the Engineering Faculty of the Eduardo Mondlane University. The sessions - open to all students and professors - aim strengthen linkages between the Dutch private sector and Mozambican knowledge institutes.

These events are an important step in collaboration between the two countries in the field of education and training in the energy sector. This relationship is further expanded with the recent kick-off of a € 4,4 million capacity building program  between the University of Groningen, a Dutch University, and the Eduardo Mondlane University.

Shell, Heerema Marine Contractors, Fugro, Boskalis, Damen Shipyards, Van Oord, Jumbo, Dockwise, Smit Lamnalco and IHC are the companies participating in the Dutch Roundtable Oil & Gas East Africa. The Netherlands-African Business Council, based in The Hague, facilitates trade and investment between the Netherlands and Africa.
